Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-23
This Privacy Policy explains how Renderbench (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with your use of the Renderbench service at renderbench.com. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — when you sign up or sign in (through our identity provider, Clerk), we receive your unique Clerk user ID, email address, name, and profile image (if you signed in with a third-party provider like Google).
- Content you provide — the prompts, reference images, helper images, and generated outputs associated with your projects and experiments.
- Usage data — the number of generation runs you’ve consumed in the current billing cycle, timestamps of key actions (create/retry/copy), and the model you selected for each experiment.
- Product analytics — we use PostHog to capture de-identified screen views and feature-usage events. Events are associated with your Clerk user ID once you sign in and otherwise captured anonymously.
- Technical data — browser type, device type, IP address, and pages visited, collected through our hosting and analytics providers.
- Communications — if you email us for support, we’ll have your email address and whatever you include in the message.
2. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide the Service — authenticate you, run your generations, score them with the AI judge, and display your project history.
- Enforce plan limits, detect abuse, and secure the Service.
- Respond to your support requests and send operational notices (password resets, security alerts, billing receipts if you have a paid plan).
- Improve the Service — understand which features are used, prioritize fixes, diagnose errors.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Content Policy.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your prompts, images, or generated outputs to train AI models.
- We do not share your content with other Renderbench users.
- We do not serve third-party advertising on the Service.
4. Legal basis for processing (EU/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following bases: (a) to perform our contract with you (providing the Service); (b) our legitimate interests in securing, improving, and marketing the Service, where those interests are not overridden by your rights; (c) your consent, where required (for example, for optional analytics cookies); and (d) compliance with legal obligations.
5. Subprocessors
Your data is stored with, and processed by, the following vendors:
- Clerk (authentication and identity management) — receives your account identifiers, email, and profile information.
- Convex (database, file storage, and serverless functions) — stores all your project data, prompts, and uploaded/generated images.
- Vercel (hosting and content delivery) — handles HTTP requests, serves static assets, and routes traffic to the Service.
- OpenRouter (AI model routing) — receives your prompts and, where applicable, your reference/helper images and generated images in order to run image-generation and AI-judge requests. Under OpenRouter’s terms, requests are forwarded to the underlying model provider you selected (e.g. Google, Black Forest Labs).
- PostHog (product analytics) — receives de-identified usage events and, once you sign in, your Clerk user ID as a stable identifier.
- Stripe (payment processing, future) — will handle payment card data if you subscribe to a paid plan. We will not store full card numbers on our systems.
Each subprocessor is bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and to process it only on our instructions. A subprocessor list may be updated as the Service evolves — check this page for the latest.
6. International transfers
Our primary infrastructure is located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required by law (for example, for EU/UK users), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with our subprocessors.
7. How long we keep your data
We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete a project, experiment, or version, the associated records and stored files are removed from our primary database and file storage promptly. If you delete your account, we delete your account record, projects, experiments, versions, and stored files within 30 days, subject to limited retention for legal, accounting, and abuse-prevention purposes.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have some or all of the following rights: to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to have your data deleted, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@renderbench.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls on our production systems, and regular review of our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, however; if you suspect a security issue, please contact us immediately.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our subprocessors use cookies and similar storage technologies for essential purposes — keeping you signed in (Clerk), persisting your appearance preferences, and measuring product usage (PostHog). We do not use cookies for third-party advertising. Most browsers let you reject or delete cookies; doing so may degrade the Service (for example, you’ll be signed out).
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we’ll notify registered users by email and post a notice on the Service. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
13. Contact
